Canaday 2760 Proudly Presents "Sweet" Selah Rayne!

The newest member has been added to Canaday 2760 and her name is Selah Rayne.  To clear the air: it is pronounced "Say-lah" not "See-lah."  She arrived on August 3, 2010 @ 7:39PM--weighing in at 7lbs 15 oz and measuring 20.5" in length.  Selah is healthy and beautiful, and we are so glad to finally have her in our arms! Welcome Sweet Selah!

*BTW- Granna (Ryan's Grandma) takes the "Selah Birthday Pot" of $110...yep, she chose August 3 several weeks ago.  Congratulations Granna! Ladies & Gentlemen, what will she do with all that money?  In her words, "I'm gonna buy a lot of dirt" (she's an avid gardener).

Come Out, Come Out Wherever You Are!

40 weeks is here and I wish I could tell you that time is flyin, but it's not--it's seeming to move at a snail-like pace.  The countdown is on for Selah's birthday and all bets are on the table.  It was $5 to play.  Each person chose a day between July 15-August 5 [the actual due date is July 29].  The pot has capped at $110.  13 people are already down which is good for me--my $5 is on this Monday, August 2.  Tami is not so fortunate, even though she tried to manipulate the pot.  Her $5 was on last Sunday, July 25.  By all means it began as a typical Sunday afternoon.  I put in the P90X DVD, then for the first time ever, Tami decides to join me (as seen below).  That's right folks--she bought into the myth that exercise=labor.  It was a failed attempt and her quads paid for it the next morning.  But on a more positive note, Tami is doing great and I have become an almost-expert on foot massaging.

A Word to Selah: please come quickly!  We are ready for you and we can't wait to hold you! Mommy, especially, wants you out of her belly and into her arms.  We love you!

37 Weeks: Our Little Crenshaw

That's right people--Tami is 37 weeks and Selah is the size of a Crenshaw Melon (approx. 6 Lbs).  I'll leave it at that...pictures always say more than words.

The Tummy Table

Tami is now 35 weeks.  The last few weeks have been fun and interesting.  Damien, our 9-year-old nephew, came to visit for a few days.  We had a blast!  Things we did: Casa Bonita, Denver Downtown Aquarium, Coney Island, Hot wings, Rockies game, the Alpine Slides, and lots of playing at the park.  Unfortunately, Tami was unable to participate in some of these activities, but she has been a real trooper!  She's carrying around a honeydew which weighs more than 5 lbs...yes, Selah is weighing in at around 5 lbs.  Due to lack of space, Selah no longer punches and kicks, she simply squirms and pushes.  Selah still gets the hiccups, but at least she's not giving mommy a right-hook while doing so.

Tami was not able to join Damien and me at the Rockies game and the "going up" & "coming down" of the Alpine Slides.  But at least she's able to use her belly as a table--even a coffee table--we call it the "Tummy Table."

April Showers Bring May Flowers & May Flowers Bring...Baby Showers!

July 29 is the official date of Selah's grand arrival, and it is approaching quickly.  End of May was BIG...two baby showers and 1700 miles of traveling (all of which were driven with an almost 8-month pregnant lady).  *For the record, when your pregnant wife needs to "go,"--it's serious--she needs to go!  Speaking of "going"... Poppy changed his first diaper ever!  Sis gave birth to twin girls in March and Uncle Ryan learned the ways of proper diaper changing (thanks sis).

First was the Denver baby shower at Val's (Tami's sister), then to Missouri to see the twins and another baby shower, then to Omaha for Chelsea's (Tami's younger sister) high school graduation.  And finally back to the great city of Denver.  Now it is already June and Tami is 33 weeks!  Her belly is getting bigger and life is getting better.  I may be a bit biased, but she's the most beautiful pregnant woman I have ever seen!

We've Got a Lively One on Our Hands

Third trimester.  30 weeks.  Summer is approaching.  It's not 10 movements every two hours, it's a right-jab and a left-kick every 10 minutes...Selah is alive and active!  Between this and Selah's nightly hiccups, Tami does manage to get "some" sleep.  And I should add: watching & feeling her belly has provided hours of entertainment!  Now, we are simply waiting--waiting for Selah's grand entrance into the world!  In the midst of the craziness, life is to be lived.  In the recent weeks Tami and I have enjoyed a trip to Steamboat Springs, Denver Botanic Gardens, and the Rockies game--and somewhere in there we celebrated our 5 year anniversary!  Life is good!

25 Weeks and Counting!

We said we were going to be preparing a place for Selah.  Indeed, her room has gotten more attention than the entire house has during our 15 month residency.  The crib arrived from Amazon via FedEx.  I pleaded with Tami that we hire a "handyman" for assembly.  "In the wilderness," my cries went unheard--4 hours later (what seemed like 40) the crib was finally done!  Oh the mattress...Selah will not be sleeping on a Tempurpedic, but she will have 236 coils to keep her quiet--thank you "Babies R Us Guy" even if I was taken for a sucker.  What can I say, I'm a first-time-poppy of a very important baby girl!  Then the paint...of course the color had to match the bedding set.  Tami cut and I rolled.  We called it the" T&R Cut n Roll."  Lamo...but what do you expect from an expecting married couple who can no longer participate in happy hour...at least for a little while!  But it's all worth it for you, baby Selah!
